These are too cute for words. What a beautiful idea, it certainly is effective as a pretty mobile for any nursery. They come in blue and white as well. Visit FairyDreaming's etsy store for delightful tooth fairy pillows and fairy garlands. All made in Australia, too!

point & shoot : swirling

I've had a rough last couple of weeks, which is why I haven't been posting as much as I had planned or wanted to. So on a busy and full on weekend my mind was swirling with thoughts as I did the things that needed doing.
Am I good enough? Am I giving enough of me to my children? Are they happy? Does my husband get all he needs from me? Am I a good person? What do I need? It went on and on.

I took a break to stare at my new baby girl. Laying in her bed she seemed completely happy. Outside in the gorgeous weather, my little boy was playing while his dad made some improvements to the cubby house. They seemed completely happy.
And for a moment, all those other worries and questions flittered away.

Before she was born, I was worried I couldn't love her as much as I did her brother.
I couldn't fathom loving anyone else like I did my little boy. I felt guilty and perhaps undeserving of the blessing of another child. I loved her as she grew in me, as I felt her kicks my heart would warm. But it didn't quite feel the same as the swell of emotion felt when gazing at my little boy.

But the instant she was born she filled my heart, suddenly twice the size it was before.
I gazed at her, she gazed at me. It was calm and I was lost in her eyes.
I could love them both, just as much as each other.

Now she is nearly 4 months old - and it seems silly that I had the worry in the first place.
Maybe one day all those other worries swirling in my mind will seem silly, too.

I hope you had a good weekend.

etsy love : chenille rattles

{images from here}

I am really loving these at the moment. Hand-made in Australia by Leah, they would make a most gorgeous addition to a baby treasure collection. I am going to get one to put in my little girl's Christmas stocking - I just have to finally choose which one! {yes, I am planning Christmas already - my husband affectionately refers to me as Christmas Freak}.

You can buy Leah's adorable creations at her MadeIt or Etsy stores. Be sure to visit her blog too!

messy baker

I am a messy baker. Really messy baker. It doesn't help that I have a pretty small kitchen with very limited bench space, but when I bake it often looks like I let 6 toddlers do all the work. Today was no exception, but I had the urge to bake {and more importantly - the time!}.

All the mess is worth it when you get this out of your oven
and then the family devours it.

I follow a pretty easy recipe for this Banana Bread - original recipe calls for icing but I feel we don't need it so I just sprinkle some brown sugar and oats on top before it goes into the oven.

easy 'vintage' bassinet sheets

My little girl is 3 months old now and is still in her bassinet. I love that she is sleeping on sheets that not only remind me of my childhood, they are from my childhood. I call them 'vintage' as they are 25+ years old. Thankfully my Mum kept them even after I had moved out of home. :o}
Her bassinet mattress fits well inside my old pillowcases - no cutting or sewing involved {which is good since I am hopeless at sewing!}.
I am hoping to use the flat sheets and doona covers as sheets in her cot, but may end up having to have those sewn to fit better. We shall see.

How delightful is this spoon by Sycamore Hill on etsy?
I think one will have to make its home here - i'm sure it will bring a smile to my husband's face when he goes to make his morning coffee or tea.

little hands

it is amazing what such little hands can still manage to do.

I bought this little set for my son while we were overseas and finally brought it out this week as we've had a lot of staying at home time trying to recuperate from the usual winter cold.
I highly recommend this toy - it is imaginative, educational and fun. You can teach your child about shapes, colours, patterns and helps develop their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

You can find a set like this one over at Kid Central or Baby Roo

a little treat ...

a very very easy treat.

One day I will make my own meringue. But when time is limited, bought pavlova bases will have to do!
Whip up some fresh cream and cut up some beautiful strawberries.
Assemble.
Enjoy.
Go back for more.
