Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of Sugar
- 500g of Butter, softened
- 5 Cups of Self Raising Flour {I use half wholemeal self raising}
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk {I use the light one}
Preheat oven to 180C
- Cream butter and sugar with a mixer.
- Sift the flour into the butter and sugar mix, then add the condensed milk. Mix.
- Then you add what ever you want to the cookies, chocolate chips, 100's and 1000's, nuts etc.
- Roll into balls and place on a cookie tray lined with baking paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes
I add chocolate chips and oats usually, but not to the whole amount as I freeze the dough plain so I can do whatever with it when I defrost it.
This time I just kept the cookies plain and put 3 red M&M's on them to form a sort of heart shape. They were so yummy ... but I think they could have been even better with some mini choc chips added into the dough. I was just trying to keep them simple this time.
I am really happy with how they turned out! They cooked beautifully and you just can't beat the shape when you're talking about chocolate chip cookie dough. The M&M 'heart' shape also kept where as with the traditional cookies the M&M's spread apart more.
I recently bought a silicone heart shaped muffin tray {$8 at Kmart!} and thought I'd try it out with some cookie dough instead of just using it for muffins or cupcakes.

I also think these would have been so so good with more chocolate, but they were really quite delicious like this, too.

They look Delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
They look gorgeous LOVE the recipe looks super duper easy )
ReplyDeleteBianca - loving these! They look so cute. Your cookie recipe is very similar to mine - using condensed milk is so easy. Cookies might be on the agenda tonight. I've made muffins, anzac slice and banana bread so far this week - cookies must be next!
ReplyDeleteOhh thanks for sharing - we'll be making some tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteJust making these now, just divine!
ReplyDeleteJust had my first attempt at your cookie receipe - my challenge is that is must be dairy free. I found a dairy free condensed milk (thanks to godairyfree.com) but it seems quite crumbly. Can you please tell me what your cookie dough is like BEFORE you cook it?
ReplyDeleteInstead of red m&ms I used ripe rasperry lollies as well - one per heart. They looked great and slightly melted which was super yummy when they were still warm.
Couldn't find the heart moulds at Kmart but found them at BigW - $11.

I hope everyone is enjoying their baking efforts!
ReplyDeleteBirdie I am sorry I should have specified how much condensed milk - I used a 400g can, unfortunately I don't know how many ml's that is. I am thinking that if your dough was really crumbly, more condensed milk would help as before I cook it it is a rather 'wet' dough but not too wet, very easy to roll into a ball etc without leaving sticky dough mess on your hands.
GREAT idea using the raspberry lollies, I think I will have to try that! YUM! Did you use nuttelex instead of butter?

Bianca
ReplyDeleteYes I used Nuttelex. Uncooked dough was sticky but when cooked it was quite crumbly - more like a cake than a cookie.
I used around 1 1/2 cups which is similar to a 400g can (I converted to oz and then compared on my measuring jug). I think I will try to add a tiny bit more rice milk when I make up the next lot from the dough in the freezer.
They are a big hit!! I also cut up some dairy free chocolate (Sweet William) and but that through some of the dough to change it slightly.
Thanks
Birdie
Oh I didn't realise you meant crumbly after baking.
ReplyDeleteYes, mine are a bit crumbly too, definitely messy when my son eats them, crumbs everywhere!
Great to know that they work with Nuttelex, we have a sweet friend at kindy who can't have dairy or egg, so this will be excellent and easy peasy for her with nuttelex, thanks Birdie!! How good is it that there was so much dough! I love just defrosting some for a really quick baking fix.
Bianca, you are one clever cookie (pun intended)! I have this exact same receip for cookie dough and use it for EVERYTHING. For Christmas, I add glaced cherries and make others with macadamias and white chocolate, and my hubby loves dark choc and walnut But I'm loving the heart shapes and red M&Ms... you have such good taste. Plus your photography is to die for! xx
