a couple of weekends ago we moved our sweet little girl into a big girl bed. Well, an extendible bed anyway. :o}
Last year we moved her into this room and I added some embroidery hoop wall art and some splashes of teal here and there.
We ended up with this, and while I loved it, it felt a little busy and I didn't love the change table where it was but it was how we left it until it was time for her big girl bed.
There isn't a lot of wriggle room in this bedroom due to the position of the large window, the door and the wardrobe so unfortunately it's not very flexible. This is pretty much all the wall space we have to work with, and because we still need the change table, a single sized bed was just not going to work. So we decided to go with the Minnen from IKEA and we popped it in the same spot her cot was in.
It is a gorgeous bed, and just the look I was after for her bedroom. It is extendable, so at the moment it is not really any longer than her cot was, but it is slightly wider. The gorgeous quilt and pillowcase are from Spotlight. The white pillow used to be mine and the little pink round pillow is from Target sometime last year.
I also felt like I wanted to change the position of the change table and expedit bookcase to create a better flow etc in her room so I swapped them. The change table is now where the book case was
And we popped the expedit down on it's side.

I like it like the layout for now. It feels bigger and there is plenty of room for tea parties on the floor. It's easy to check on her before I go to bed at night and most importantly, she is happy with her new bed that "Daddy made".

We did have to move her little chair to this spot - it's in front of the wardrobe which is a little annoying but when the change table is gone I will be able to make a little reading corner there for her until her bed needs to be extended. And I am also finally showing off her most beautiful Freya Blackwood Maudie and Bear print I won from the gorgeous Jackie at
My Little Bookcase last year.
I really don't want to jinx myself but the transition so far has been pretty good. Noah was hard work when we moved into a big bed so I am thrilled that it has been a lot easier this time around.

ReplyDeleteI love this!! What a gorgeous room!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous room... So beautiful...
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely Bianca - so pretty and girly and I bet Chloe loves it all. I found it hard trying to fit everything into our small bedrooms too but as you say, eventually things like the change table will go and you'll have more floor space x
ReplyDeleteYes it is hard to fit everything in there! It isn't a very usable room but it looks nice like this I think - feels cosy yet roomy when you're in there :) x
DeleteAmazing! Love the feel of the room...definitely using this as inspiration for my girls rooms! Can I ask where you got the bird house coat rack from and also the tree decal thing on the wall above the change table? I've always loved the Minen bed....might have to get once for my youngest in a couple of years!
ReplyDeleteHi there! The bird house coat rack and the tree are both from bed bath and table. The tree is wooden, and came with a stand {around Easter time - waiting until it was 50% off} and we just hung it on the wall. xx
DeleteHi, i just wanted to find out where the little shelf with hooks is from? I reckon ive seen this on Jades blog too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mel @There were three in the bed
Hi Melissa, it is from Ikea :o} called stenstorp
DeleteI'm buying the minnen bed for my daughter but am concerned about what bedding to buy because of the rails. I guess it needs to be thin enough to tuck in. Your set is nice...where is it from? Is it just a quilt? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is from spotlight. there is enough room to tuck in something thicker with no problems :)
DeleteI love it! We are thinking of getting the Minnen bed for our daughter. Is it just crib sized bedding for the quilt? I am making her quilt and trying to figure out size. I just love her room, so sweet!
