{sensory tub} :: dinosaurs

We have been doing sensory tubs for pretty much every 'theme' lately - they're just so easy to do and you can tailor them to suit your kiddos age. We use an Ikea Trofast tub with a lid because I already had them, but it could be beneficial {if you're buying a tub specifically} to get one with a lid that snaps closed.

I made up two different tubs for the kiddos to play with, one indoor one and one outdoor one :o}

Noah specifically asked to make a dinosaur world when we talked about what we'd like to do while learning about dinosaurs.
And so we made one for indoors, for a week or so he collected these leaves and twigs from all over.
It is filled with decorative pebbles {I have had these for years and used to use them in candle displays / vases etc} and some blue tissue paper, leaves and twigs Noah has collected and of course, some dinosaurs.

I also made an outdoor one, with some sand and larger rocks.

These tubs are really a lot of fun and so easy to set up and then use over and over again.

  2. Looks like such a fun idea. How do you get them to keep the things in the tub? My kids would tip it all out. Maybe they are too young? What ages would this work best for?

    1. They don't always keep everything in the tub - which is why the sand one is for outside LOL!
      I do ask them to leave the little things like the pebbles etc in there but sometimes a few will escape. Chloe was 2 in may but has been playing with tubs like this for a while - I just watch her but I'm lucky she doesn't try to put any of it in her mouth etc. She just likes touching everything, and imitates what she sees Noah do - he is 5 and uses his imagination really well with the tubs, dino's chase each other, they hid in a bush, they swim etc. It is definitely something that is taken out for a little while and put away, if I just left it out all the time I guarantee you my kids would have it all over the floor. :) x
