{review + giveaway} lego loving

We are big LEGO lovers in this house.
I grew up with LEGO, as did my husband.
My 3 younger brothers refuse to let go of our LEGO collection, so we have slowly built up our own for the kiddos to enjoy.

Noah is big on LEGO. Loves it and plays with it every.single.day. It is so good for his imagination, fine motor skills and concentration. I love that it is an all around great toy that will also last and last.

We were recently sent this LEGO Creator Construction Hauler.
Oh boy.

Noah absolutely loves it. Why wouldn't he? It has a little digger that is carried on the trailer. It's red with orange lights {orange is his favourite colour} and it goes with all his other trucks and LEGO mining sets he has slowly been collecting.

What I also love about the Creator range of LEGO is that every set comes with more than 1 instruction booklet to make more than 1 model. This one makes the construction hauler, a cherry picker truck and a car with trailer and dune buggy. Noah usually leaves his made LEGO models as they are for a little while, but slowly makes little changes and modifications before it is something entirely different and unique. That is what I love most about LEGO, the open ended play opportunities and the invitation to use his imagination.

I love how he plays with his LEGO. Does your little one play like this too? He has ever since he was a teeny tot. Cute.

I am so happy to be able to give away one set of the LEGO Creator Construction Hauler to 3 lucky readers!!
Win 1 of 3 LEGO Creator Construction Hauler sets valued at $22.99 each

Construction Hauler RRP $22.99
Unload the working digger from the heavy-duty construction hauler, then get to work or rebuild it into a cherry picker or off-road transporter with dune buggy.

Entering is easy! Good luck! :o}

  3. Being a family of three girls, we didn't really have too much Lego around. But I always treasured a picture that my Danish granny gave me of Legoland in Denmark, and I vowed that I would go there one day!

We gave my five year old nephew his first Lego kit for Christmas last year and he is now hooked! We gave him the green garbage truck, and he sat with my hubby on Christmas day until it was put together! We have since given him a little maroon ute that is very similar to my hubby's car, which was put together that night, and I have a little boat ready to give him for Easter. I look forward to expanding his collection over the coming years!

I have three daughters but they don't have any Lego either. We would love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes, grew up with Lego! Still have it, it is a prized possession handed down to my kids who also love it!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Did I grow up with LEGO - I certainly did! My brother and I had countless brawls over LEGO pieces until my Dad sat us down one day and AUCTIONED OFF the pieces bewteen us...we didn't have m oney to buy the pieces, the deal was we had to buy them with chores! Each chore was worth so many LEGO pieces! LOL...it worked brilliantly!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I had some LEGO at home, but my husband had heaps of it, and still talks sadly about the day in his 20's when he came home to find that his young cousins had dismantled it all (he didn't keep the instructions)! I wish we still had our LEGO collections, but we are slowly building up the collection for our two boys.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think it's probably just about time to upgrade from DUPLO to LEGO for my nearly-5-year old... you've given me a great idea for his upcoming birthday! :)

  47. Yes, I grew up with Lego as did my husband and he has kept all his collections and STILL has to check out the Lego aisle when buying toys for our daughter. My daughter also has an infatuation with Lego and building things. Since I'm a plumber... maybe she might follow in her mother's footsteps?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't remember having Lego when I was growing up. But my 5 year old loves it! I'd love to hear how you store your Lego Bianca, for example, mod you keep 'sets' together with the instructions, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My mum still has a huge box of Lego at home, as I have four much younger brothers and sisters. My kids love playing with it there as it's all jumbled together in a glorious mess as opposed to home where each set is carefully kept together which it's instructions in zip lock bags!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I grew up with Legos due to a younger brother. And my boys love Legos! We play with them every day. I even have some on my nightstand :) sadly we just have a huge bucket we throw them in as I am not that organized :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. OMG this is your best giveaway ever Bianca! We inherited my husband's lego (but no instruction manuals), so it makes for VERY imaginative play. I am slowly building up our lego collection, the girls love the friends lego, and the boys have a few little bits and pieces from Santa etc (oh and the lego advent calendar - this was the best advent ever for my kids). I find the new lego very different to the old 80's style, the new walls etc are more specialised and lots of tiny pieces, so we try to keep the old and new separate as otherwise when following instructions it can be really hard to complete something. Just LOVE this stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  52. We love LEGO here too! My brothers had sooo much of it growing up and like your brothers can't let all of it go. We have it tied up in the LEGO drawstring bag that we had when we were kids. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. My brother and I recently found his Lego collection and I made the mistake of assuming it was OK for my kids to play with it. No way - he's 37 but so not ready to give it up! I wish they'd had the Lego Friends sets when I was a kid. My brother would not let me play with his at all! I'm now loving all the Lego my daughter has and my son, 3, is getting right in to it as well. Lego is so cool!

    ReplyDelete
  54. My brother had tons of Lego when we were growing up but I didn't. I would've loved the Lego Friends like my daughter,6, does. My 4 year old son is starting to get very interested in his big sisters Lego so I will definitely be investing in some for him. The Lego Creator set looks like something he'd love to start off with.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I had lots of lego and loved it! Used to keep me entertained for hours!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I was very fortunate that my mum worked for LEGO so we were always playing with it, it's the best toy that my children now love playing with it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I never got any lego as a kid, but really enjoying playing it at my cousins house. We made so many towns.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Grew up playing with my little brother's rather extensive Lego collection, and my mum kept it all too, so now my little 18 month old son is starting to use it as well! It keeps him entertained for ages :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I grew up with Lego and Duplo and thought it was brilliant!

Then I turned ten and forgot all about it.

Now I have a son, I wish I'd kept it for him!

But once show time comearound i NEVER had anything ready.
My mum still has my lego collection in a big yellow pig.
Much to say I wouldnt be game enough to open it up and check it out anytime soon.
I am sure it would be a complete shamozzle!
But today i buy my son more modern lego, id never let him have that big container full, i would always be standing on it. He would have it scattered all over the house!
    LOVE LEGO!

  75. I was surrounded by lego my whole life, as I grew up with a brother. We would sit for hours as we had a huge piece of material with a drawstring (that would convert to a bag) that was full of lego. It is hours of fun, and now I have past that tradition down to my son, who is 5, and is starting to get involved with lego. I love how lego is still popular, even though it hasn't changed, yet the world around it has!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I didn't grow up with lego, but our children certainly did, and it's all here in containers, ready for the grandchildren to play with. I'm sure they will be born one day.....I hope.

  80. I love Lego as a child and used to sit creating things while my Mum and Dad tried to guess what I was making. I still have my Lego from over 30 years ago (I still enjoy playing with it) and it has been added to from generation to generation. It's such a great educational toy teaching hand-eye co-ordination and enlightening the creativity in all of us! It is perhaps one of the only toys that has stood the test of time.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I still have some of the Lego I had as a child, which my son now incorporates with his Lego. I personally think its one of the best toys ever.

  133. My two boys adore their lego collection and developed the love of Lego by playing with it at their Nana's house, my husband's childhood home and also at their Nan's house, my mum's home. What I love most about Lego is seeing both my boys sit down with their dad and spend hours assembling a new creation.

  134. My brother has the family Lego collection for his son....but I think I have already got more than he has, for my two boys :) his kids love coming here and playing with our occasionally organized collection. Of course, it is organized now, with the kids being back at school!

  135. I grew up playing with LEGO... loved building houses & making small towns for the cars, sadly we don't have them anymore. Now I have 3 kids of my own & our eldest just recently turned 4 Which I think is the perfect age for introducing LEGO. He is a HUGE fan of 'scoops' (as he calls them) & would love this to start off his collection. ;)

  139. We had a Lego collection as children, not sure where my Mum got it from, but I remember building houses over and over again. Mostly using the little white pieces to make the picket fence. We don't still have it, my Mum doesn't like clutter, I imagine she gave it to one of our younger cousins at some point in time. If they still have it, they aren't owning up, so we have started our own Lego collection for our 3. Now that we have a boy, I'm excited to branch out a little from Lego Friends.

  140. Oh, Lego. *LOVE* I played with it for years and years. My parents still have my brother's and my collection, which works well as the kids use it when visiting their house, and I have an excuse to indulge in new sets for home. My 5 year old supergirly girl is in love with the Lego Friends but she has some of the City and Constructor sets too. Love watching her mix the two - the fashion design studio has regular visits from building workers and the police. Quite the cosmopolis. I do still wish they'd kept making Fabuland (the cartoon animal sets from the early 80s) - they were seriously cute.

  141. I didn't have much growing up but I've made up for it now!

Our 5 year old nearly exploded with pride after building the Lego Police Station (6+ years!) at Christmas almost entirely unaided.

  146. We love lego in our house! Hubby had a stack of lego from his childhood - all 3 of our girls have spent countless hours playing with it (and hubby still does too ;-) ). And it's great for when our nephews come over and don't feel like being surrounded by girls (2 boys vs 7 girls!!)

  160. My brothers and I grew up with Lego and we still have all of it (well, maybe minus a few pieces) at our parents' farm. I hope to one day go through it with them and work out the sets as best possible so I can pass mine down to our kids.
